Tintype Portraits in Hand Bound Book
Mildred's Lane, Tintype Study is a series of traditional wet plate collodion tintype portraits created in collaboration with Leila Gordon at Mildred's Lane in the summer of 2021.
This body of photographic work is the culmination of a three week fellowship at Mildred's Lane in Beach Lake PA. During the summer of 2021 I participated in the Silver, Iron, Light fellowship on site at Mildred's Lane. There artists work together to create and coexist within the landscape of the woods of northern PA and NY. I worked with fellow artist Leila Gordon to create a series of tintype portraits of the other artists living and working with us over my three week stay. The portraits were taken on a modified Polaroid EE100 land camera. Each tintype is framed in a hand printed paper frame and assembled into a hand bound accordion fold book. The book can be displayed hanging as seen in the documentation of the work at the Mildred Complex(ity) or can be viewed as a traditional book.
